Webster's Dictionary describes a friend as "one attached to another
by affection or esteem" or "a favored companion".
Can you imagine God thinking
of you this way?
It's possible. . . .
There is a way to become God's close companion.
It takes faith. It takes simple trust in
the unseen.
Recognize that you are a sinner. . . first
you have to admit that you aren't perfect, you've failed. "there is none righteous, no not one". (Romans 3:10) and
know that "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" (Roman 3:23)
Recognize that Jesus is who He said He was and that He did what He said He did. . . . ."For God so loved the world
(even you) that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John
3:16) He gave His life for you. . . "For Christ also suffered for once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He
might bring us to God." (1 Peter 3:18)
Ask God's forgiveness (repent).
. . .The word repent means to "change your direction". . . Turn to the one that can change you . . .tell God you're sorry for all the things you have done wrong and ask Him to come into your life. . . . "everyone
who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved;" Romans 10:13
Accept & Confess that Jesus is your Lord. . . Jesus said, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give
you rest" (Matthew 11:28) You can come "just are you are". . you don't have to clean yourself up. . simply.
. . ."confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God
raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
God will point you in the direction you should go. . . and best of
all. . .
He'll go with you. . . He's your new best friend, attached by affection!
